New Orleans

Louis Armstrong was born here - and Nola’s legacy as the birthplace of jazz can be seen in every street and alley where musicians gather to play. In the Lower 9th Ward, a predominantly black neighbourhood torn apart by Hurricane Katrina, people were still trying to restore the community back to what it was 15 years earlier. Then came coronovirus. The hardships have been tough - but there is a deeper capacity for hope in a place that’s known great sorrow. For me New Orleans will always be one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan cities in America.
